Description
An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Field Technician to join a respected and well-established provider and installer of safety systems to the U.K. haulage industry. The role requires national travel with regular overnight stays. They have some work that has started in Scotland and the team is working up there on a rota system so no one is up there every week. You would of course be buddying up with an experienced engineer. The wage is based on experience but they will be able to increase that with overtime at time and a half.

About the Role:
You will be working as part of a small, close knit team, installing safety systems and hazard warning systems into haulage fleets for blue chip customers. you will ideally have a background in a similar industry sector; but don’t worry if not, as full training is available, and we are more interested in your mindset and attitude than your experience. We are a growing company, and there are opportunities for career progression for the right person.
Our client provides electronic safety systems for commercial vehicles and plant, providing protection for vulnerable road users on our busy UK roads whilst protecting vehicles against false insurance claims and vandalism.

Main Duties: To support the installation of electronic monitoring and safety systems onto commercial vehicles, including but not limited to:
  • Multi camera CCTV recording systems.
  • Fleet management and vehicle tracking systems.
  • Ultrasonic proximity detection systems.
  • Hazard warning systems i.e. beacon bars, strobes and lamps.
  • Mobile on-site work, generally on new vehicles for all major vehicle manufacturers.
  • Liaise with the Field Engineers to ensure the handover of key installations, when required to ensure an effective use of time.
  • Monitor and report progress against required delivery dates utilising Field Aware App
  • Maintain exceptionally high customer service levels that lead to customer loyalty and referrals.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards and orderly administration of your work.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are maintained in a clean, complete and safe condition.
  • Perform installation, commissioning and service duties as required, on or off-site, as required.
  • Adhere to the company health and safety policy.

Qualifications and Experience Required for this Role:
  • MESF (Mobile Electronics Security Federation) Career Path Accreditation - Certificate 1 Basic Installation Qualification (VECP) or equivalent or be committed to completing the accreditation.
  • Commitment to completing the Engineer Install Training Programme *(Internal Technician Training Programme).
  • Experience of commercial vehicle installations, repairs and maintenance (advantage).
  • Experience of using hand tools including but not limited to battery drills, digital volt meters, torx/hex driver bits, socket drives and gas soldering irons
  • Actively encourages teamworking and gives constructive feedback, in an collaborative and timely manner.
  • A full Driving Licence.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 08.30 - 5.30pm
