A leading cutting edge company , who operates across a broad range of applications to a global client base. Over 90% of their systems are supplied to customers outside of the UK, this in turn means the majority of our service work is carried out overseas.
The Position
The International Service Engineers report to the Aftersales Manager. The position is a truly international role with estimated overseas travel in the region of 40%, however this can fluctuate in line with the needs of the business. Individual trips may last up to 2 weeks and involve 2 weekends away and can be required at very short notice. The remainder of the time will be based at their Oxfordshire Facilities supporting other service and manufacturing tasks.
The International Service Engineers are responsible for the installation of the company’s laser systems and their subsequent service and repair. The role entails a considerable amount of autonomy and International Service Engineers are expected to schedule service visits and arrange their own travel. They frequently travel on their own, are the prime point of contact with the customer and therefore must be a good ambassador for the company.
The Person- Maturity, confidence and motivation. The ability to handle difficult situations on the customers site
- Excellent, logical problem solving skills in technical areas
- Good communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively and use the help and support of colleagues
- Domestic arrangements which permit international travel at short notice and for the periods described above. Good health, valid passport and driving licence
- Should fit comfortably in a highly technical environment with a highly qualified and highly experienced staff
- Should enjoy working in a small organisation where he/she has a considerable level of responsibility but also willing to do basic tasks in line with the needs of the business
- Willingness to support other aspects of the business or do other tasks as the company may require
- Ability to work to strict deadlines either individually or as part of a team
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Essential Skills- HNC/HND/Degree level in Electronic/Mechanical Engineering/Physics
- A sound, demonstrable engineering or scientific background
- 2 - 3 years’ industrial experience in a similar hi-tech environment plus
- 2 - 3 years’ as a service engineer on unaccompanied site visits
