- Description
- The Service Technician reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for repairing and servicing products; for assembling, calibrating & final testing product; for updating Production; for assisting with planning, purchasing, goods-in and managing stock; and other duties as agreed.
Responsibilities- Assessing customer returned equipment & performing necessary servicing & repair work
- Maintaining and updating records associated with warranty, servicing & repairs
- Keeping the Commercial department updated on the progress of customer returned products
- Calibrate all completed products in accordance with relevant work instructions
- Subject to appropriate authorisation, conduct calibrations and issue calibration certificates
- Perform calibrations according to processes defined in the appropriate work instructions
- Have basic working knowledge of ISO17025 and how its requirements relate to the calibration activity
- Draw attention to actual or potential non-conformities and highlight opportunities to improve processes
- Escalate calibration issues as required to the Production Manager
- Accurately assemble products
- Understand any modifications required to the standard specification.
- Observe anti-static precautions at all stages of assembly, test, calibration and service processes.
- Health and Safety: Ensure that the workplace is safe and eliminate or control risks to health.
- Assist Production Manager in processes documented in Operating Procedures
- Kitting of parts and sub-assemblies for assembly operations.
- Re-stocking items.
- Maintaining and updating records associated with goods-in and stock holding.
- Electrical Assembly: Experience of working in an electrical assembly environment, making/assembling electrical products. (Ideally small scale, low volume, fast paced high-tech environment). Experience of troubleshooting electrical/electronic components & products.
- Experience of soldering through hole components.
- Fully proficient with the use of small hand-held tools for electrical product assembly, i.e., screw drivers, hex keys, small wrenches, snips, soldering iron etc.
- Mechanical Assembly: Able to assembly small mechanical enclosures containing framework and electrical PCBs (use of tools above)
- IT skills: Computer literate; experience of using Microsoft windows to input product data into the computer systems (Microsoft Office Applications beneficial). Experience using MRP system.
